Within the program of the II International Congress on Communication and Thought held in April 2017 at the University of Seville, members of the i+d project team of the URJC participated in a symposium coordinated by Sonia Núñez Puente (PI) and Diana Fernández Romero. The Symposium was entitled “Digital practices and ethical testimony: challenges of the frameworks of recognition of the gender violence victim”.
The objective of the proposal was articulated around the analysis of the communicative initiatives that entail a challenge to the hegemonic frameworks of recognition of the victim of gender violence. Social networking sites, in this sense, have been configured as a specific space in which the new digital practices of feminist cyber-activism find concrete ways of giving an ethical testimony to the processes of violence. Papers discussed the digital practices on social networking sites that can be observed as communicative models susceptible of being considered an example of ethical testimony in relation to the ways in which gender violence is configured in media discourse.
