URJC Project

The milestones achieved thus far by the URJC subproject, which correspond to the objectives planned for the years 2016 and 2017, have to do with updating and analysing the national and international scientific literature that addresses digital practices in the social networks of feminism, and specifically of Spanish feminism, in relation to the representational modalities the woman as victim in contexts of violence on social networking sites. Likewise, the selection of discourses and images on social networking sites (Facebook and Twitter) has been established for a multimodal analysis model that permits determining the type of communicative practices developed around violence and the recognition framework of the woman-victim.
The results of the project’s first phases of development have begun to be disseminated in different publications, as well as through engagements in academic forums. On the basis of the theoretical systematisation of the concept of violence we are working with, we will proceed to study the innovative representational modalities on social networking sites that allow for activating discourses grounded in ethical testimony as opposed to those that articulate hegemonic representational modalities.
