The second edition of the online course Patriarchy and neoliberalism: Guide for analysing the challenges and debates of contemporary feminism will begin next February 26. The course is directed by URJC team member Laura Favaro and Ana de Miguel, Professor of Moral and Political Philosophy at the URJC. In this activity of knowledge transfer, the scholars bring together their extensive teaching and research experience to create a space open to the general public for reflection and the development of skills that allow for a critical analysis of a series of challenges and key debates for feminism today. Examples include the prostitution system, the surrogacy trade, or the uncritical return to notions about femininity and masculinity that seemed to be finally part of the past.

In general terms, the course provides resources to answer a crucial question for those committed to the fight for a more just world: How is inequality between women and men reproduced in societies that are egalitarian in formal terms, and even with active equality policies? De Miguel and Favaro argue that this question becomes even more complicated, and its response even more urgent, at a time when feminism is being the object not only of trivialization but also of processes of neoliberalization, as argued in the text Patriarchal and neoliberal societies: on the urgency of their critical analysis in times of ‘cool feminisms’.
